Western Ireland Tour, Day 2:  the Aran Islands

Dun Aonghasa or Dun Aengus is a massive semi-circular fortress on the far southwestern side of Arainn.  Though its exact date is uncertain, it goes back to the Bronze Age, at least 800 B.C.  The walls are 20 feet high and in places 18 feet thick, and the location--on the very edge of the western world--is breathtaking.
