Aghadoe Church sits on the hill looking down on
Killarney. A monastery was founded on this site in the 7th century
by St. Finian, the founder of Inisfallen Abbey, and the remains of this
church date back to the 1100's. The church remains include an impressive
romanesque doorway, an ogham stone, and several intriguing examples of
medieval sculpture. But most impressive is the view from the church
graveyard, looking down at Lough Leane and
the mist-covered mountains beyond, as the image below reveals:
