Cahir Castle (Cashel Trip)

Cahir Castle sits on an island of rock in the midst of the River Suir.  Its situation made it particularly difficult to attack, and is one reason why it remains one of the largest and most well-preserved castles in all of Ireland.  Cahir Castle was first built in the 13th century, but the site itself was one of the royal seats of the Kings of Munster before St. Patrick's mission in the 400's.
