Second Day-Trip:  Cashel

The Rock of Cashel

Our second day tour of Ireland consisted of the countryside surrounding one of Ireland's most famous and important sites:  the Rock of Cashel.  Perched atop a massive stone outcropping, this magnificent castle and church--described as "the most dramatic of all Irish monuments--towers above the surrounding Tipperary plain.  View additional images and narrative on the Rock of Cashel.

In addition to Cashel, we spent significant time at two other major sites of Irish antiquity:  The Athassel Priory, and Cahir Castle.  All of these sites are deep in the countryside of County Tipperary, the rolling country in the south of Ireland.
